Housing Counseling Program

DHR is responsible for implementing the HUD-certified Housing Counseling Program activities involving:

• Interviewing and assisting clients with housing problems and solutions;
• Providing debt and money-management counseling;
• Providing information on tenants'/landlords' rights and responsibilities and Fair Housing
• Reverse Mortgage Counseling (Home Equity Conversion Mortgage, or HECM)
• Foreclosure Intervention Counseling
• Pre-purchase and first time home buyer counseling
• Acting as a referral to other agencies and resources as needed

Currently, all housing counseling services are provided free of charge.
